Self-Care for Tired Moms: My Journey to Finding Happiness Again

 Self-Care for Tired Moms

Hello everyone, and welcome back to my cozy corner. Before I started writing these lines, I sat with myself for a long time, asking questions and having deep conversations. Yes, I’ve been talking to myself quite a lot lately, and I’m not losing my mind, but honestly, who better to listen to me than myself? I won't drag you into that whirlpool, but it’s the truth that led me to search for what we truly need to feel happy as mothers. How do we take care of ourselves, renew our energy, and regain our vitality amidst the crazy days filled with chaos, housework, and endless kids' demands? We often find ourselves mentally and physically exhausted without even realizing it.

I started with a fundamental question: "Are you happy in your life, Nourell?", and I answered: "Yes, I am happy, but...". That "but" is the hero of our article today. What exactly is missing from that happiness? I sat sipping my coffee and staring at the sky. Is happiness just a clean house, quiet children, and a warm meal waiting for a husband? I discovered that this is a type of happiness maintained by someone burning out from the inside, someone who finds no time for herself. This is our topic today, self-care for every mom exhausted by burdens and responsibilities. If you are suffering in silence, keep reading to share my new journey.

The Myth of the Perfect Mom: Breaking Free

I suddenly realized that I had become a scary version of myself, the Nourell who is always shouting, running to clean, cooking, and struggling just to survive. Especially with a child who has ADHD, I realized that I need double the effort of an average mother. In the middle of this race, I forgot "Nourell the woman" before being a mother. I thought that neglecting myself for their sake would bring me goodness, but I was burning out. When I faced a severe health issue, I realized my body was pleading with me to pay attention. Now, I’ve decided to permanently drop the perfect mom mask, and I will only be what I can be, without sacrifices that make me suffer in silence.

Moms Self Care: Starting Small with Zero Budget

Do you think self-care requires a huge budget and expensive spas? Never, my dear. I started with the simplest things, like exercise, specifically brisk walking for an hour a day. I used to suffer from joint pain and stiff muscles due to inactivity, but walking changed my psychology completely. Whenever I feel stressed, I go out for a walk, and soon I calm down and push away negative thoughts. I even bought a cheap exercise mat to work out at home, and that was my first step toward regaining my activity.

Skincare Routine: A Moment of Pure Luxury

Don’t let the term skincare scare you, you won’t need expensive products. A gentle cleanser and moisturizer are enough, along with some masks available in stores. Believe me, just taking a warm bath and putting a mask on your face while relaxing on the sofa with a cup of herbal tea will make you feel like a queen in her palace. We are the ones who make things difficult by making excuses about the lack of time, so when will the time be available if you don't start now? Pamper yourself, mama, declare an emergency hour and make it yours alone every day.

Mindful Shopping: The Joy of "Window" Shopping

Another step I call Shoof-ing instead of Shopping. It’s not a requirement to buy many things to be happy, just going out shopping alone or with a friend is enough to change your mood. Maybe a simple cream or a new lipstick is enough to make you feel satisfied. The idea is to steal time for yourself to sit in solitude, recharge your energy, and renew your femininity, which deserves attention.

Daily Habits for Mental Peace

There are endless ideas, such as learning a new language or practicing a skill you love. Deep breathing exercises were my savior from morning shouting fits, I do 20 counts every morning and evening, and it made a huge difference in my calmness. Also, reading is enough to change your view of things, especially if you suffer from negative overthinking like I did. And blogging, what a wonderful way to empty your thoughts! That is the main reason for creating this blog, to be a warm corner where I share with you all out of love. Soon, I will also start gardening and drawing, because everything that occupies the mind away from negativity is a new life.
You are never alone, so be brave and change your life. Reclaim your radiance and your beautiful smile.

I would be very happy to connect with you in the comments, so tell me, what are the simple things you do for self-care? I am Nourell, a mom and a homemaker, I found happiness in the simplest details, and I send you all lots of sparkles
