These are the hands that wake up before the sun to get the kids ready for school, prep breakfast, help them dress, and make sure they never miss that school bus. These hands have been burned by the oven more times than I can count, all while trying to put a warm meal on the table. They’ve been worn down by cleaning supplies and water over the years.
I tried wearing gloves, honestly! But when you're a mom, you’re doing ten things at once. I’m scrubbing a dish one second and stirring a pot or seasoning chicken the next. Gloves just get in the way of the "multitasking magic."
My veins show a bit more now, and my skin gets dry no matter how much cream I apply because, minutes later, I’m touching water again. Whether it’s mopping floors, cleaning bathrooms, or hanging laundry—how could these hands stay "perfect"?
The truth is, motherhood is far from the filtered perfection we see on social media. I care about myself, but finding a full day for a salon visit or a manicure feels like a dream when you’re living in the beautiful chaos of the school week. Honestly, when the weekend finally comes, I don’t even want a spa day—I just want to sleep! Just one day away from the kitchen and the dishes.
So, please, give some grace to the moms who don't always look "put together." We are fighting through our days to finish a never-ending to-do list. By the time the sun goes down, all we want is to crash on the sofa and drift off.
And to every husband reading this: Take care of your wife. Be her support so she can find a little time for the woman inside her. She stays silent and works hard just to see her family happy. Doesn't she deserve a bit of that happiness too? I promise you, if you give her just one day to herself—to shop, do her hair, or just be—she will come back like a new person, ready to carry a mountain of responsibility for another month, just because you gave her a moment to feel like herself again.
This was Nourell, sharing a little piece of my world with you. Sending you all doses of sparkle..✨️
